Dave Landry 12" Original Flying Saucer with an Aerotech H73 (RMS 38/240) at the Louisanna High Cotton Launch on October 22, 2005 Click here for a video of the flights (3.3MB AVI) Dave's comments: It was a little windy. Most of the rockets were having some troubles---weather cocking into the wind. I wasn't worried about that with the saucer though! Nice and straight and landed within 60 feet of the pad. The crowd seemed to enjoy it. Several people said "You can do a level 1 with saucer????" Don't know if you want to mention this or not: I overbuilt the saucer--fiberglassing the outside. I got a little carried away (being fairly new to this...won't do this again!). FYI, I live on a small farm that has a considerable amount of trees. Whenever I have company and they ask me to "shoot a rocket", I pull out my saucers and stealth. Haven't lost one yet!...FYI--my trees have "rocket ornaments" hanging in them.... thanks! Dave Landry |

Kevin J. McFarland Rocket: 10", 38mm Smiley Delta Flying Saucer Motor: Aerotech H73J Location:Utah Rocket Club (UROC) Pony Express Trail Range (near Faust) Date: April 16, 2005 Remarks: Lots of people interested. I had a lot of questions before and after the launch. The Tripoli prefect had never seen one before. The flight was great and landed quite close to the pad. The previous rocket (Level 3 hybrid) ruined a Suburban, so everyone was impressed with this landing that didn’t reach the cars. |
